McCollum Auto Body 2019 Recycled Rides Program

We are very proud to participate in the Recycled Rides Program alongside a tremendous group of insurers, other collision and auto body repair centers, paint suppliers, parts vendors, and other businesses.

Championed by the National Auto Body Council (NABC), the Recycled Rides Program is a collaborative effort to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and service organizations in local communities throughout the country.

For our part, McCollum Auto Body chose the car of a family in need, secretly fixed it up, and then surprised the family with it at the Portland Women’s Expo Event at the Portland Expo Center on March 2.

McCollum partnered with GEICO to donate a newly refurbished vehicle at the Expo, the largest Women’s Expo Event in the Pacific Northwest. The Expo featured hundreds of new products and services on display by both local and national businesses — plus food, music, wine, and more!

We’re so fortunate to be able to contribute to this community program and to recycle a ride for one of our neighbors in the Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, community.

About Recycled Rides

According to the NABC, more than 1,000 vehicles have been donated through the Recycled Rides program since its inception in 2007.

“Thanks to the efforts of many NABC members,” the NABC writes, “the program’s ripple effect has made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of individuals who have received vehicles or benefited through the services provided by nonprofit organizations who have been recipients of Recycled Rides.”

Unfortunately, finding reliable transportation is a challenge for many people in our community. That makes it difficult if not impossible for many of our neighbors to do some of the things that most of us take for granted: getting to work on time, going grocery shopping, or picking the kids up from school.

“Recycled Rides can play an important role to help open doors to better opportunities, employment, enriched quality of life, and increased self-esteem,” writes the NABC.
